Let Marble Works help you with your next project
Granite
Granite is a hard, crystalline igneous (volcanic) rock typically composed of the minerals quartz, feldspar and mica. Granite deposits are found in every country of the world, each with their own unique colours and formations. Whilst granite is found in Australia, many of those stone deposits favoured for domestic applications are sourced from South Africa, South and North America, Scandinavian countries and India.
Being a volcanic rock, granite is very hard wearing. As a natural stone, it lasts a lifetime. The slabs are polished in our workshop with industrial diamonds, giving them a sheen that is extremely stain and scratch resistant. It requires minimal cleaning and is ideal for high use areas of the home such as kitchen benchtops, bartops, outdoor BBQ areas or anywhere that minimal maintenance is desired. The key features of granite as a surface area in addition to its appeal and beauty as a natural stone are its resistance to staining, strength and scratch resistance, heat resistance and ease of cleaning.
Marble
Marble is formed by metamorphism of sedimentary limestone or dolomite (sedimentary stone that has been subjected to high temperature and pressure, creating a chemical change in the stone). Marble’s natural beauty and workability has made it a favored material for construction and sculpture for centuries with works as diverse as the Taj Mahal and Michelangelo’s David being made from marble.
The soft soft hues and beautiful veining characteristic of marble give it a timeless and classic appeal favored for use in bathrooms (vanity tops, baths, floors and showers), fireplaces, staircases and other applications including feature panels, kitchens bench tops, columns, fountains and foyer entrances.
Reconstituted Stone
Reconstituted stones such as Ceasarstone, Quantum Quartz, Essa Stone, Smart Stone, Silestone, Quarella and Stone Italiana are man-made stone products. Natural stone is combined with bonding agents to create an exceptionally hard wearing bench top material that is acid and chemical resistant, stain resistant, non-porous, anti-scratch, colour consistent and easy to clean. Further advantages of reconstituted materials include uniformity of pattern and colours not available in nature.
Each brand offers its own range of colours and has its own product warranty and maintenance advice. For further information on any of the reconstituted stones available, or for a full view of the colours on offer, simply visit the website/s of the brand/s in which you are interested.
The price of a job depends on the number of slabs used, the material, thickness, choice of edges, installation site and number/type of cut outs for sinks and cook tops that a customer chooses/requires. The price of natural stone is comparable to that of synthetic materials. Please do not hesitate to contact our office, email or visit us – our staff are more than happy to answer any questions/queries you might have.
